Artemus Sol
The following is a short overview of Sol.
Unfortunately, the true origin of Artemus Sol is known only by a select few. What is known is that Sol was first introduced to the galactic government when he was approximately 30 years old. He was accompanied by his mentor and friend, the elf Falinor. It is presumed that Sol had been training with the elves in some hidden area of the galaxy prior to this appearance. Little is on record of what happened to him directly before he made this initial emergence, but rumors tell of a conflict with some unknown force that left Falinor and Sol separated from or the survivors of their traveling companions.
For the next several years Artemus focused all his time on training in a number of martial arts, understanding his newfound power of spatial flux, and designing and helping to build a new ship: the Gallant Force. At the end of this period Sol was commissioned by the galactic government as a contract Guardian, receiving funding and supplies in return for helping maintain the safety of the galactic citizens. His mission was to do a large sweep of outlying territories in a quiet sector of the galaxy.
This trip took Artemus and Falinor just over two years to complete. Upon his return, Sol had a zymbari crystal he had discovered surgically grafted into his body. In addition, he brandished a new weapon: Obsidian. From this point on Sol worked off and on for the galactic government for a good amount of time. He soon had his hands full when the galaxy was invaded by a full demon fleet that had spent many hundreds of years traversing the intergalactic chasm.
Some three hundred years after Artemus Sol was born he left his home galaxy for another, to fight elsewhere.
The following description depicts Artemus around the end of his time in his home galaxy, after he had been alive for several hundred years.
Acid Lightning: green bolts of electricity from the fingertips which can ionize bodily fluids, rendering them poisonous.
Ice Orb: a spherical ball created by absorbing energy from the air. The surface is solid ice, insulating a liquid comprised of the air molecules and atoms with lower freezing points (usually nitrogen), which spreads over the target when the orb is broken, inflicting quick freeze burns.
Fire Orb: a spherical ball created by adding energy to the air. The surface is a mass of flames, fed by collected flammable material inside. When it hits its target the highly flammable chemicals burst out and spread, instantly catching on fire when they hit oxygen.
Mild Telekinesis: Sol is mildly proficient at moving objects with his mind. However, size matters, and he can only move small-mass objects with any kind of speed. Larger objects require more focus and energy.
The main power of Sol, and the one that sets him apart from many other demon hunters, is the unique power of space-time manipulation, or spatial flux. His spatial powers were given directly to him by God, in order to be a tool to fight the demons. One important ability that arises from this is Sol's ability to contract space, allowing his ship to travel significantly faster than normal spaceflight. This is accomplished through a series of amplifiers on his ship which allow Sol to use his powers on a larger scale for this specified purpose. Normally, the extent of Sol's control drops off as an exponential function of this distance from his body. Some of the powers known to Sol are:
Deflection Shield: A simple bending of the space directly around Artemus' body to deflect any weapons fire.
2-D and 3-D Spatial Ripple: A shortly sustained wave of gravity fluctuations projected away from Sol's body in either 2 or 3 dimensions (circle or sphere). This attack strains anyone touched by it, disorientating them and if sufficiently strong, ripping them apart.
G-strain sphere: Increases natural gravity wells in surrounding area, causing enemies to fall to the ground and be crushed if not strong enough.
Singularity: Easily the strongest attack move that Sol has, a miniature singularity is created inside Sol's body (as is necessary for such extreme manipulation) using up a small portion of his own body mass. The full force of the gravity is suppressed as the small black hole is forced up through the right arm and out through the palm, where it is fired as a projectile and allowed to use its full gravitational potential. Sol maintains minor control over direction afterwards. Needless to say, this attack drains a massive amount of stamina, and is extraordinarily hazardous to anyone nearby, the planet it is used on, and sometimes the parent star system.
Mirage: With enough focus, Sol can twist light to distort images, creating a mirage which can confuse enemies or help along a strategic retreat.
Invisibility: By standing still and fully bending light around himself, Sol effectively becomes invisible to those unable to sense energy manipulation.
Clear Sight: Sol is able to focus photons and collect more photons in order to see more clearly, increasing his night vision and ability to define distant objects.
In addition to these powers, Sol has trained in several hand-to-hand fighting styles from different planets. He is very proficient with Obsidian, and the grafted zymbari crystal adds to muscle strength, allowing him to run faster, jump higher, punch and kick harder, and respond faster than he would otherwise.
